ISSUE/PROBLEM:
I want to work for the Visually Challenged Community.
Problem Statement:
There is no updated accessible reading Material available for visually challenged community because of that their knowledge remain limited.
when we read a books, articles, columns depending on the material we laugh, feel sad, feel motivated and sometimes feel surprised but when we look around, there are few people in our community that cannot read or enjoy these moments not because they do not want to but because there are no accessible material available for them. Yes, i am talking about the visually challenged community.
They do have their means to read book, like braille or they use software that talks back and they listen to the books, novel or stories. In a developing country like Pakistan we are still far behind from other countries to make materials accessible for them.
For this experience i talked to some of their community members to gain the insight of the problem. i interviewed them as what issues they faced in their education career? what issues they faced after their education career regarding reading materials and I am shocked to hear that mostly books, novels or any reading materials which is in Urdu language, they do not have accessible to those. Some updated materials which are in English language also does not have accessibility for them.
I interviewed Mr. Suleman Arshad to gain the insight of this problem. After the interview on his request i recorded an Urdu article of Mr. Javaid Chaudhary, which was his favourite and he was very to hear that because previously he doesnot have the accessibility for Urdu articles. It was a great experience as whole.
