Flashback to the day when I was scrolling down on facebook and an ad pop up in front of my screen and it was of Amal Academy fellowship and it says “Admission open”. I got curious, I started searching about the Amal Academy on the internet and started reading about the Amal Academy I really got excited because it is the kind of thing I was looking for.

“When one door closes another door opens”

I recently graduated and due to pandemic crisis my future plans comes to an abrupt stop and at that moment finding an opportunity like that was a blessing in disguise for me. I applied for Career-prep fellowship, I was so surprised and amazed that I got shortlisted for this fellowship and I was super excited for this.

From the day 1 of this Amal Journey, I learned a lot. As my batch fellows are from different cities, I really enjoyed everyone’s company, loved to hear different opinions on single topic and most importantly working with different mindsets helped me to grow. I really enjoyed every single activity in this fellowship. From 1–1 session to know myself and my options to working in groups in different breakout rooms.

There are a lot of topics to address that have had a great effect on my life on this path, but I want to clearly highlight one aspect that I think is the secret to my development in this fellowship and that is working on Mega Project. The reason for this is that we have to implement almost everything we learned in this fellowship. From showing passion to teamwork, showing empathy with each other to learn new skills in just a short period of time is remarkable. I loved how this fellowship led me to work on my areas of improvement and It feels like I am a different person now.

I was not good in working teams as I thought I work passionately and why I had to bear as a result of anyone else’s fault. This mindset really troubled me with working in teams but because of this fellowship I learned the importance of teamwork. I came to know there comes a time when you need helping hand you can’t be good in everything, there will come a time when you feel unmotivated and can’t find any kind of help or support, there will be your team members that are there for you when you need them.

At the beginning of my fellowship the tasks were a bit difficult, when you know nothing is easy if you weren’t good at that stuff before. After a couple of days, I found it wasn’t that hard, and things started going for me. I came to know winning is not everything, learning is everything.

One thing about this fellowship, I don’t like is that it will end soon But the best part is those things that I learned from this fellowship, memories and fellows will remain with me. Joining this fellowship is one of the best decision I ever made. I will be applying everything I learned from this fellowship in my life.

Now, as I sit back and think about my journey, I know that it’s just up to you to seize the initiative to approach matters. I am very thankful to Amal Academy for giving me an opportunity to improve myself.
