Raising funds for Edhi Foundation through problem solving skills
The Edhi Foundation is a non-profit social government assistance program in Pakistan. Abdus Sattar Edhi until his demise on 8 July 2016 was the top of the association and his better half Bilquis, a medical attendant, administers the maternity and adoption services of the foundation. Its headquarter is in Karachi, Pakistan. The Edhi Foundation is financed totally by private donations and administrations are offered to individuals regardless of identity or religion. Abdus Sattar Edhi, who died at the age of 88, he was a social activist who known as the “Father Teresa” of Pakistan. Edhi Sahib is viewed by many Pakistanis as a National Hero, he devoted his whole life to help others.
Faisal Edhi had revealed the donations to Edhi Foundation have decreased to an enormous degree after the demise of Abdus Sattar Edhi, limiting everyday help exercises and administration to debilitated mankind. In any case, the mission began by the incredibly famous altruist would not be halted at any expense.
The main issue Edhi Foundation is facing right now in raising funds. The mission of Edhi Sahib to provide, shelter, clothing, food to poor and needy people of the world without any discrimination and vision towards the help of deserving people need voluntarily help in the form of donations and we as a nation should stand up for this noble cause.
I was doing a fellowship with Amal Academy where we were placed in a group and we had to collect funds for Edhi foundation. As we were in the pandemic situation. The biggest challenge we faced is because of COVID-19 we cannot go out to collect funds. We had to do everything by staying at home and mostly people feel like it is a scam or a fraud.
In taking care of this issue we had to think about all the potential answers for the fund raising and to create awareness. We had various zoom meeting sessions, where all individuals introduced potential thoughts for raising support for Edhi Foundation.
we came up with different solutions.
- To create poster and posted it on different platforms to create awareness.
2. To create a video and posted it on different platforms to create awareness and for fund raising.
3. we wrote an article and we able to publish it in a newspaper.

4. Talking and explaining individuals about the problem and how can we play our part in it. We able to contact 475 individuals as whole. We able to collect funds from 60 persons and we have to face failure 415 times.
It was a great pleasure and a feel of satisfaction collecting funds for the cause. It is always a great source of internal satisfaction being a helping hand to those who needs our attention. The challenge we faced was to convince people that funds will exactly be used on the proper cause. We explained to them individually in our circles the transparency of funds usage and convinced them to donate.
We learned a lot from this task. Sometimes, despite all efforts people will not trust you with their money. Even our close relatives, family members and friends rejected us but It was the uplifting mentality of all the group members and all the help that we gave to one another, which empowered us to not fear the rejections by the individuals rather we took these rejections with a major grin. This is our smidgen part for our dearest Edhi sahib or for this noble cause.
